Class Information

Learn how to paint facial features and structure by developing a fully detailed portrait in grayscale (grisaille) from a plaster cast bust. We will work on establishing a full range of values, sighting the face, brushwork and oil paining materials. All skill levels are welcome. This is a small group class with individualized instruction.

Class Cancellations

  • All cancellations must be in writing
  • Payment in full is due 7 days before your class begins. Cancellations received 7 days in advance will receive a full refund; Cancellations received less than 7 days in advance forfeit the entire class fee. No refund will apply
  • In the event a workshop does not reach minimum enrollment and is canceled, all payments will be refunded in full

About the Instructor

Michelle has painted and drawn since childhood. She specializes in classical, Renaissance painting techniques that are grounded in observational realism. Michelle has taught Drawing and Painting at MSU for six years as well as private painting classes in oils. She emphasizes technical skills that provide a wide range of tools for personal expression from contemporary realism to conceptual abstraction.
